Scientific Editor

The Research Grants and Projects (RGP) Office at the Weizmann Institute is looking for a Scientific Editor to assist scientists in the preparation and scientific editing of competitive research proposals

Tasks:

• Scientific and English editing of research proposals submitted to competitive funding agencies (EU funding programs, Federal grants, etc.)
• Guidance to scientists on how to best present the proposed research project to increase the likelihood of grant approval
• Ensuring the application addresses the main criteria of the granting agency
• Ensuring that the standard of English reaches the level expected of a native speaker
• Improving the flow, clarity and structure of the document and standardizing word use
• Maintaining ongoing contact with Institute scientists and familiarity with their scientific work

Education and Qualifications:

• MSc in Life/Natural Sciences – essential; (PhD – advantage)
• Previous experience in competitive proposal writing/ scientific editing – essential
• Fluent English, both spoken and written, at mother tongue level – essential
• Strong written communication skills
• Previous experience in project/research management in industry /academia - advantageous
• Service orientated and excellent interpersonal skills
• Attention to details and excellent organizational and multitasking skills
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Creative and flexible thinking
• Able to work well independently and as part of a team
