JOB TITLE: Development Director, Roots/Shorashim/Judur
REPORTING TO: Director of International Relations, Rabbi Hanan Schlesinger
SALARY: 8,500 NIS per month
ABOUT ROOTS:
Roots is a grassroots Israeli-Palestinian initiative for understanding, trust, non-violence and transformation based in the Gush Etzion-Bethlehem area. We are a unique network of local Palestinians and Israelis who have come to see each other as the partners we both need to make changes to end our conflict. Based on a mutual recognition of each People's connection to the Land, we are developing understanding and solidarity despite our ideological differences. Roots is a place where local peoples can take responsibility. Our work is aimed at challenging the assumptions our communities hold about each other, building trust and creating a new discourse around the conflict in our respective societies. This is a grassroots and local model for making change — from the bottom up.
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS
As our donor base and impact on the ground increases, Roots is ready to hire a full-time development director for the first time in our history. We are looking for a professional who can help us take our movement and fundraising operation to the next level. We recently acquired a CRM database platform and now need a partner to help us put it into motion. The majority of Roots’ budget comes from private contributions from donors in the United States. We have built relationships with our donors through speaking tours in North America which have reached more than 10,000 people and by hosting more than 150,000 guests at our base of operations in the region. Roots has around 15,000 contacts in our email database and we have more than 1,500 donor contacts. The development director will be tasked with helping our team to capture, organize, and use our contact data to achieve new fundraising goals. This data will support our donor solicitation strategies, crowdfunding initiatives, parlor sessions, online fundraising, and digital marketing campaigns.
LOCATION
This is a remote role and all candidates will be considered, although Roots will give preference to candidates living in the Gush Etzion or Jerusalem area. If the candidate is in Israel/Palestine, occasional visits to the Roots Center will be expected.
