Standing on a peak atop Israel’s highest mountain on a dazzlingly bright February morning, I had just stepped into my skis and begun to descend when I heard someone yelling in my direction.
A soldier clutching an automatic weapon was running after me.
“Hey! You can’t go that way,” he shouted. “That’s a closed military zone.”
